Gliding nails and felt glides, what's what?

If you want to protect PVC floors, laminate floors, tiled floors, linoleum floors, or wooden floors from scratches and streaks caused by furniture with wooden legs, such as sofas or (dining) chairs, then gliding nails or felt glides can provide the ideal floor protection you're looking for. As the name (nails) suggests, the vast majority of variants are easy to attach by hammering them into the wood. Only the felt glide and Teflon glide also come in a screw-on variant.

Because the bottom of the leg is made of 'end grain' wood, and the felt dampens the impact of the hammer, there is a risk that the felt glide cannot be hammered in properly. For this reason, a variant with a screw has been developed. The screw has more grip in end-grain wood and can be attached more securely to the leg, so it will remain stably mounted to the leg for longer.

Glides and felt glides for optimal floor protection

Slide glides and felt glides are the perfect solution to prevent scratches and marks on your floor. Especially with furniture with wooden legs, such as chairs and sofas, damage can quickly occur to PVC, laminate, tiles, linoleum, or wooden floors. With the right floor protection, you not only extend the lifespan of your floor, but you also ensure that furniture glides smoothly.

Slide glides are hammered directly into the wood, ensuring a firm attachment. Felt glides offer extra protection due to a soft underlayer, making them ideal for sensitive floors. For situations where wood is difficult to attach, such as end grain wood, there are also screw-in variants. These provide extra grip and stay in place longer.

Why choose gliders and felt pads?

Glides and felt pads protect your floor from scratches, scuffs, and wear caused by furniture. Damage can quickly occur, especially with daily use of chairs and tables. With the right protection, your floors will stay beautiful longer, and you'll avoid unnecessary repairs. Additionally, glides make it easier to move furniture without noise or resistance.

When do you choose glide nails?

Glide nails are ideal for furniture with wooden legs. Because you hammer them into the wood, they are firmly secured and last a long time. They are suitable for intensive use and offer a durable solution for, for example, dining chairs that are often moved.

When do you choose felt glides?

Felt glides are perfect for sensitive floors such as PVC, laminate, and wood. The soft underside prevents scratches and dampens noise when moving furniture. For extra sturdiness, you can choose a screw-in variant, especially for end grain wood.
